Dear Egyptian President Mr.Hosni Mubark,
Please I am writing to ask for your assistance in a problem my family and I are having concerning the Egyptian Consulate in Melbourne, Australia.
In December 1982 my wife and I were planning a holiday with our daughters to Egypt to visit our family. The Egyptian Consul-General, Mr. Amhed Mohamed El Mesiry,
Who offered us money to carry two suitcases to Egypt for him, approached us. He tried to force us to do this. The Consul in Melbourne,
Mr. Farouk El Houfy,
Advised us not to carry the suitcases if we didn’t know what was inside. My uncle in Egypt, who was an Officer Colonel in the Egyptian Army, gave us the same advice.
The Egyptian Consul-General then accused my wife, myself, and my uncle of spying for Australia against Egypt. The Egyptian security forces put pressure and intimidation on my uncle and his family until he died. Here in Australia we discovered that we were being followed until I contacted the Australian Minister for Police in Melbourne. My life was threatened and I was hospitalized for 2 weeks, after which time we returned to Egypt.
This issue has been publicized in the newspaper in Australia in January 2001. But despite having written to the
Egyptian Foreign Minister
And to
President Hosni Mobark in Egypt,
We have received no reply.
We are appealing to you for help in this most serious problem. We have only written briefly here of the problem. We have documents and witnesses to support our story,
And we hope you will take the time, with this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. and Mrs. Mustafa Bekhit
